Vivian Darlene Westcott
Vivian Darlene Westcott, age 77, went to Heaven on Saturday, May 10, 2014. Vivian was born January 14, 1937 in Macon County, the daughter of the late Thelma Louise Bartlett and Don Edwin Perkins.
Family and friends were Vivian’s passion. Spending time with her daughters, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and close friends were her greatest delight.
Vivian was the mother of twins, Vicki Western Westcott of Kansas City MO and the late Deborah Dawn Westcott of Kirksville MO. Vivian spent the majority of her life residing in Kirksville and shared a long happy life with Oscar Theodore Western. Curtis Michael Hill of Queen City MO and Oscar’s children Norma James and Howard Western were all very dear parts of her family. She was the very proud grandmother of Lucas Grant Hill of Pittsburg PA, Sarah Elizabeth Ashlock of Pittsburg PA, Regan Theodore Hill of Kansas City MO and Tally Marie Hill of Kansas City MO.
Vivian is survived by three wonderful sisters, one brother, two half sisters and a dear friend; Dicy Perkins, Janet Morton, Linda Van Laningham, Ronnie Bartlett, Alice Stoddard, Sharon Perkins, and Alma Edelen. She joins in Heaven a sister Deloris Atha and a niece Debbie Jo Easley.
She also leaves behind four nieces and seven nephews who she dearly loved.
In addition to raising her girls, Vivian took great joy in managing the Frederick Rollins Sheltered Workshop. After retirement she took on her favorite role as a loving grandma.
Vivian was a member of Hamilton Street Baptist Church where minister Reverend Charles Jackson bestowed an endless amount of love, time, attention and friendship over many years.
Family is requesting donations in leiu of flowers be made to a memorial set up with KVHS in honor and memory of Debbie Westcott, Vivian Westcott daughter, where an annual scholarship will be awarded. Donations may be made to the Kirksville High School, 1300 South Cottage Grove, Kirksville MO 63501 attention 'The Westcott Scholarship Fund'.
Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday (May 15, 2014) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday.
The family wishes to give a special thank you to Reverend Jackson for his years of commitment to caring for Vivian, to American Family Agent Fred Collop and to store employees of the local Hy-Vee for the love they bestowed on her.
