Mary Lee Hall
Mary Lee (Botkin) Hall, 84, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Saturday May 17, 2014 peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Mary Lee was born September 14, 1929 in Atchison County, Mo. She was the daughter of Edson Carter Botkin Sr and Mary Esther (Irvine) Botkin. Mary Lee graduated from Benton High School of St. Joseph, MO in 1947. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Northwest Missouri State University in 1951 and a Master’s in Education from Missouri University in 1959. She was an elementary school teacher for 18 years.
On December 21, 1958, in Rock Port, Missouri she was united in marriage to William Francis Hall, who preceded her in death on July 25, 1994. She was preceded in death by her parents Edson Carter Botkin Sr. and Mary Esther (Irvine) Botkin and her brother Edson Carter Botkin Jr.
She is survived by her children Belinda (Hall) Lynch and her husband Jim, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Brian Hall of Bothell, Washington; four grandchildren, Jessica, Joshua, Jordan, and Julianna Lynch, and two great grandchildren, Mylee and Landon Lynch.
Mary Lee was a member of First United Methodist Church, Sarah’s Circle, served on the board of Habitat for Humanity and the Selection Committee, was a member of Adair County Friends of the Library, Adair County Historical Society, a Life member of the National Education Association and the Missouri State Teachers Association, volunteered for RSVP, and was a former member of The League of Women Voters, the Grubby Gardeners Garden Club, and University Dames. She enjoyed gardening, the library reading group, and wonderful friends.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday May 22, 2014 at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Lynae McFarland officiating. Music will be provided by Vickie Williams Sollars singing “On Eagles Wings” and “How Great Thou Art” accompanied by Dianthe Cable. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm prior to the service. A private burial will be held at a later time
