Wanetta Anders
Wanetta Anders, 77, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville, MO, on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Wanetta Mae Clay was born in the Sydney area of Putnam County on August 20, 1936, the daughter of George and Myrtle (Mahoney) Clay, who preceded her in death. Wanetta was reared in Putnam County where she attended rural schools. She later worked in various factories in Kirksville and Centerville and spent 25 years at Con Agra in Milan, MO.
Wanetta was a hard working person who also had a sweet and caring personality. She always thought of others before herself. She was deeply loved by all who knew her, especially her family and grandchildren. Wanetta loved to be out on her farm with her cattle and she liked her Thursday Pitch games with friends. Her faith was very important to her and she was a member of Broadlawn Baptist Church in Unionville.
Wanetta is survived by two sons and two daughters: Joey Summers of Unionville, MO; Jeffrey Ledford and companion Mary McCabe of Milan, MO; Yvonne Havens and husband Roy of Cuba City, WI; and Peggy Stenner and husband Tom of the state of Wisconsin. Jana Simmons and husband John was a special step-daughter to her as well, and they survive in Albia, IA. Penny Carman, a former daughter-in-law, survives in Unionville with her husband Randy. Wanetta’s fifteen grandchildren are Laci Ledford, Tiffani Ledford, Jordan Ledford, Jeramy Summers, Michael Summers, Hannah Summers, Jeremy Wood, Joshua Wood, Cherie Ivano, Stacey Andrew, Matthew Ruggles, George Manders, Paul Kirschbaum, Mike Kirschbaum, and John Anderson. She is also survived by several great grandchildren, including Wade and Jeremiah Summers, whom she raised.
Wanetta was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Anders.
Funeral services for Wanetta Anders will be at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 31, 2014. Visitation will be on Friday, May 30 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Interment will be at the Lipp Cemetery southeast of Unionville, MO.
Memorials are suggested to the Lipp Cemetery or to the family to assist with funeral expenses and may be entrusted with Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
