Buddy Deierling, 90, of Queen City passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014.

The son of Clarence and Clara (Gregory) Deierling, he was born May 15, 1924, in Queen City. On June 14, 1949, in Kirksville he was married to Mary Louise Jackson.

Buddy attended rural school in the Queen City area. He served in the United States Army from May 1944 until March 1946, part of that time being served in the Philippines. After the service he worked road construction and also doing construction work at what is now Truman University. In 1968 he went to work for Truman as a carpenter and landscaper and worked there until his retirement in 1989.

Buddy is survived by his daughter, Linda Lyons of Branson, MO; his granddaughters, Angie Sloop of Columbia, MO, Laura Sloop of Branson, MO, and Tara Emerson and husband Eric of New Bloomfield, MO; two grandsons, Phillip Deierling and wife Tammy of Pittsburg, KS and Michael Deierling of Topeka, KS; daughter-in-law, Barbara Deierling of Kirksville; ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son, Larry Deierling, and a brother and sister in infancy.

Buddy was a member of the Salvation Army in Kirksville.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday (June 26, 2014) in the Dooley Funeral Home with Lt. Brian Bump officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be in the Queen City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Angie Sloop, Laura Sloop, Tara Emerson, Lloyd Kinney, David Kinney, Frank Kinney, and Richard McFarland. Honorary bearers will be Joe Turner, Skip Turner, Pat Turner, and Bob Schwenk.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday (June 26) 2014 at the
