Gary Schneider
Gary Schneider age 59, of Kirksville passed away Friday, July 18, 2014, at the University Medical Center in Columbia, MO.
The son of Andrew Earl and Annabelle (Lee) Schneider, Gary was born September 29, 1954 in Kirksville, MO. On May 23, 1980 in Kirksville, MO he was united in marriage to Pennie Vandevender.
Gary is survived by his wife, Pennie; one son, Heath (Brandy) Schneider of Bethany, MO; one daughter, Carrie Ann (Caleb) Yates of Kahoka, MO; two grandchildren, Kaylie and Hunter Yates. He is also survived by his brother, Gene (Ginny) Schneider of Kirksville; two nieces, Julie Mikolajczak and Tracy (Michael) Ockenfels both of Kirksville and one nephew, Rob (Jennifer) Schneider of Frisco, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bobby.
Gary was reared in Kirksville where he attended the Kirksville public schools, graduating from the Kirksville High School with the Class of 1973. He started working for his father while still in school and later joined the Schneider Construction business which he later owned and operated.
Gary coached baseball, softball and girls traveling basketball teams. He was a bass fisherman and a member of the Kirksville Bass Club. Gary did drag racing and rode motorcycles. He was a member of the local Freedom of the Road Riders. He loved to camp with his RV and did a lot of hunting and fishing.
Gary was a member of the Moose Lodge, NRA, Kirksville Booster Club and the First United Methodist Church. He always enjoyed being with his grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Northcutt officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville, MO.
Pallbearers will be Pete Detweiler, Mark Conyers, Charlie Kelly, Rick Buck, Terry Helton and Randy McKim. Honorary bearers will be Dusty Martin, Roger Davis, Alva Martin and Danny Maggart.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 Tuesday evening (July 22, 2014) at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
