David Robbins, 62, passed away Wednesday (September 3, 2014) at his home in rural Queen City.

The son of Glen and Maxine (Kent) Robbins, he was born April 19, 1952 in Rockford, Illinois. He grew up in Rockford and attended the Rockford schools. In 1971 he moved to Queen City. He worked at Truman University in Kirksville as a custodial supervisor, retiring after 26 years.

On May 23, 2009 he was married to Jean Calhoun.

David is survived by his wife Jean; his mother, Maxine Schmitter and step-father Leon; two sons, Clayton Robbins and wife Christina of Liberty, MO and Daniel Robbins and wife Annette of Greentop; two step-daughters, Amanda Mountain of Queen City, and Lindsey Ellis and husband Caleb of Stanberry, MO; one sister, Lynn Oliver and husband James of Kirksville; two brothers, Jim Robbins of Buffalo, MN and Bob Robbins and friend Jackie Nesmith of Kirksville; three grandchildren, David Clayton Robbins, Samantha Robbins, and Harley Robbins, and three step-grandchildren, Haylie Mountain, Joseph Mountain, and Lane Ellis; several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Jeff Robbins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Robbins in December, 1977; one grandson, Dylan Robbins in August 2005; and his father-in-law, Fred Calhoun in September 2012.

He was a past member of Freedom of the Road Riders and ABATE Motorcycle Organization. David liked stock car racing, with his sons, fishing, riding his Harley, camping, boating, driving his old Packard, and hanging out at the Lug Nut. Most of all he liked spending time with his family.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (September 6, 2014) at the Dooley Funeral Home with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Burial will be in the Queen City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth “Hub” Hubbartt, Gary “Bub” Johnson, Wayne “Pete” Gregory, David Clayton Robbins, Jason Humphrey, and Jeff Robbins.

Visitation will be after noon Friday (September 5. 2014) with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the
