Anna Jean March
Anna Jean (Gosser) March, born January 16, 1933 in rural Queen City, Missouri to Ruel Leonard Gosser and Bertha Getrude (Buchanan) Gosser, died Saturday, August 30, 2014 in her home. Anna was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Andrew Lloyd (Sonny) Gosser.
Surviving are her children, Pamela (March) and Roy Johnson of Kirksville; Stephen and Brenda March of Greentop; Lisa March of Kirksville and John March of Queen City; her grandchildren, Dale and Melanie Johnson, Amanda (Johnson) and Kevin Crabtree, Stephanie March and Matthew March. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Waylon, Abree and Weston Johnson, Evin, Elayna and Ethan Crabtree.
Anna was reared in Schuyler County area, attended and graduated from Lancaster High School. She graduated from Mercy Nursing School in Burlington, Iowa in 1955 where she received her diploma in nursing. That same year she married John March and started her nursing career working in Chicago, Illinois at Mercy Hospital, St. Luke’s Prespeterian, Micheal Reese. Anna worked at several establishments including Mercy Hospital in Clinton, Iowa, Iowa Methodist in Des Moines, Iowa, RN Consultant at the Clinton County Home and the DeWitt Community Hospital in DeWitt, Iowa. In 1965 to 1983, while residing in Greentop with her husband and children, Anna received her nursing home administrator’s license, owned and operated the Haven of Rest Nursing Home in Greentop. In 1983 she became the Director of Nursing at Schuyler County Nursing Home where she worked until she retired in 2004.
Anna was a member of the Missouri League of Nursing Inc., Missouri League of Nursing Home Administration Inc. and the Selective Service System Missouri Board #5.
Anna loved her work as a nurse, her colleagues and patients. When not working she enjoyed spending time with her family and pets, Ace, Kinser and Boomer. As well as Stormy at the nursing home.
She was laid to rest on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 in a private graveside service. Services under the direction of the
