Richard Dale Lawson 81, passed away Monday, September 15, 2014, at his daughter’s home in Forsyth, Illinois.

The son of Ola Fred and Hazel (Bailey) Lawson, Dale was born December 30, 1932 in Bucklin, MO. He was united in marriage to Leona “Lee” Kornasiewicaz and to this union three children were born. Later he married Rosa Amanda Quevedo who preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and two granddaughters.

Dale is survived by six children, Michele Dawn Wisdom and husband, Steve of Forsyth, IL, Michael Dale Lawson and wife, Geniver of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Lisa L. Blaisdell and husband, Maurice of St. Johns, FL, Lil Redmon of Kansas City, MO, Elsa Harris and husband, Keith of Racine, WI and Nelly Leavitt and husband, Mike of Shady Shores, TX; one brother, Gary Lynn Lawson and wife, Marilyn of Lebanon, MO; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Dale was reared in Bucklin and New Cambria, MO where he attended school. After graduation he played baseball with the Cleveland Indians. Dale served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War from 1952-55. He moved to Kirksville and was employed by the United States Postal Service retiring in 1995. Due to failing health, he moved to Forsyth, IL four years ago to live with his daughter, Michele. Dale was a hunter, fisherman and a collector and trader of guns. He was a member of the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the NRA.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2014, at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Father Chris Cordes officiating. Burial will be in the Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Steve Wisdom, Mike Lawson, Maurice Blaisdell, Alvin Lawson, Tracy Lawson and Terry Lawson.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at the
