Jimmy McLain 81, of Greentop, MO passed away Monday, October 6, 2014, at his home.

The son of Don and Pauline McLain, Jimmy was born June 24, 1933 in Pennington Gap, VA. On December 18, 1960 in Nashville, TN he was united in marriage to Olena Filkins, who survives.

Also surviving are one son, Don McLain of Greentop, MO; one daughter, Mary Chrisman and husband, Ron of Greentop, MO; six grandchildren, Caleb Baker, Anna Anderson, Ariel Baker, Micah Baker, Michaela Chrisman and Jacob Chrisman; three great-grandchildren, Genevieve Anderson, Gideon Anderson and Everlie Baker; one brother, Joe McLain of Summerville, S.C.; two sisters, Pauline Ball of Greeneville, TN and Kate Simpson and husband, Milbure of Kingsport, TN and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Don McLain, Jr. and Billy McLain and two sisters, Anne McLain and Lola Wilcox.

Jimmy was reared in Vanhill, TN where he attended school, graduating from the Baileyton High School. After high school he joined the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1956. He graduated from the Free Will Baptist Bible College and served as the pastor of the Baptist Church in AK for 2 years. In 1967 he left for Japan as a missionary where he served until 1995 when he retired and moved to Greentop, MO.

He was a member of the East Nashville Free Will Baptist Church.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014, at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Hazel Creek Cemetery, northwest of Kirksville, MO.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 Wednesday evening, October 8, 2014, at the
