Ruth Anabel “Russell” Hills 98, of Kirksville passed away Saturday, October 11, 2014, at the Kirksville Manor Care Center in Kirksville.

The daughter of John and Nellie (Walters) Hills, Ruth was born July 2, 1916 near Stahl, MO. In 1938 in Adair County, MO she was united in marriage to Floyd Hills and to this union two children were born.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; one daughter, Carabel Hills at the age of 9; one sister, Dorothy Denman; one brother, Audrey Russell and one sister-in-law, Elsie Russell.
She is survived by one son, Carroll Hills and wife, Peggy of Greentop, MO; three grandsons, Michael Hills and wife, Toni Jane, Dennis Hills and Austin Hills and wife, Elizabeth; one granddaughter, Vanessa Hills and one great-granddaughter, Delaney Kugler.

Ruth was reared in Adair County, MO where she received her education. She and Floyd lived in Washington D.C., Rockville, Maryland and Kansas City, KS. They traveled over the United States and Canada, to many places of interest. After retirement, they made their home in Novinger, MO. Ruth was a member of the Novinger Baptist Church.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2014, at the Green Castle Cemetery with Reverend Robert Shaffer officiating. Burial will be in the Green Castle Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Allen Hills, Michael Hills, Austin Hills and Stanley Pickens. Honorary bearer will be Dennis Hills.
