Jesse Hankins, Jr.

Jesse Hankins, Jr. was born one of twelve children born to Jesse Warren and Francis (Smith) Hankins in Pekin, IL on October 9, 1934. Jess died peacefully in his home in Queen City at 8:00 a.m. on October 13, 2014, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Jess was united in marriage to Glenda G. Dale on March 18, 1967 in Phoenix, AZ. He was employed by Caterpiller Tractor Company for 32 and a half years and retired in 1989. Jess considered his eight children his biggest accomplishment. His favorite pastime’s included his passion for bowling, his enjoyment of Harley Davidson motorcycles, and his pleasure in horseback riding with his wife. Jess was a loyal, loving, and devoted husband and father.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda; his six children, Bill and wife Wanda Hankins of Sun City, AZ, Lonnie Hankins of Pekin, IL, Bruce and wife Robin Hankins of Sandwich, IL, Gary and wife Tammy Hankins of Plano, IL, Jamie and husband Jon Wilson of Sugar Grove, IL, and Natalie and husband Dan Haick of Sandwich, IL; his siblings, Dorothy and husband Jay Lopez of Peoria, IL, Richard and wife Diane Hankins of Elgin, SC, and Roger and wife Helen Hankins of Elgin, SC; seventeen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Jess will be missed by all who were privileged to have known him or to have worked with him. His charisma has made its mark in the memories of all who knew him.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday (October 16, 2014) at Dooley Funeral Home with Pastor George Bradburn officiating. Burial will be in Queen City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bill Hankins, Lonnie Hankins, Bruce Hankins, Guy Hankins, Jamie Wilson and Natalie Haick. Honorary bearers will be John Wilson, Ryan Wilson, Tyler Todd and Chad Hankins.

Visitation will be after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday with the family receiving from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the
