Dorothy Norman, 67, of Unionville, MO, passed away at North Care Hospice House in North Kansas City, MO, on Sunday, November 2, 2014.

Dorothy Lee Norman was born in Centerville, IA, on April 17, 1947, the daughter of Robert and Dorothy Iolene (Clark) Norman, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Center High School in Kansas City, MO. Dorothy spent most of her adult life in Kansas City. She worked for over 30 years with the Internal Revenue Service, retiring at the age of 55. She had spent the last few years in Unionville where she cared for her mother who passed away in October of 2014.

Dorothy was a quiet person who liked close friendships. She liked to crochet and read mysteries. She also liked to attend Native American Pow-Wow ceremonies and often traveled to Oklahoma with friends for these events. She had been in declining health the last two years.

Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Lee Ann Kiefer and husband Gary of Kansas City, MO. A grandson, Wade Kiefer, also survives as well as two step-grandchildren, Jesse Kiefer and his children Sierra, Preston, and Hannah, and Andrea Romero and her children Brianna, Cole, and Alex. She is also survived by her brother, Gerald Norman, of Lee’s Summit, MO and by two uncles, Carol Clark and wife Carlene and Roscoe Clark and wife Lillian, as well as two aunts, Lucille Walter and Sherly Mick and husband Gerald. Two nephews survive, David Norman and Charles Fischbach and his wife Jan.

Memorial services for Dorothy Norman will be held at Playle & Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 8, 2014. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Dorothy’s wishes were to be cremated. Inurnment will be at the Powersville Cemetery in Powersville, MO.

Memorials are suggested to the Powersville Cemetery or North Care Hospice House and may be entrusted with Playle & Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
