Donna Kay Norris, 71, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville, MO, on Thursday, November 6, 2014.

Donna Kay Norris was born in Hamilton, MO, on November 17, 1942, the daughter of Fred and Viola (Goodin) Loveless, who preceded her in death. She was reared in the Hamilton area and graduated from Penney High School in 1960. After graduating she moved to Kansas City, MO, to work. On November 25, 1962, she was united in marriage to Donald Richard Norris, and he survives in Unionville. Donna and Donald made their home in Putnam County, MO, where they farmed and raised three children.

Donna will be remembered as being very community minded. When her children were younger, she was involved with the West Putnam PTA, was a leader of the Country Ring 4-H Club, a booster club member, and helped in many capacities at the Putnam County Fair. She was also involved with the Omicron Epsilon sorority, the Unionville BPW, and the Lady Golfers at the Unionville Country Club. In her spare time she enjoyed crafting and scrapbooking. Once her children were raised, she attended many craft shows and eventually opened the Country Peddler in Unionville, which was a gift and flower shop. After selling the store, she worked for the University of Missouri and Putnam County Foundation through a USDA funded grant promoting community betterment. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

In addition to her husband, Donna is survived by her daughter Paula Kay McCormack and husband Dwaine of Unionville, MO; her sons Richard Douglas Norris of Powersville, MO, and Jeffery “Toby” Scott Norris of Unionville, MO; her two grandchildren Brant Steven McCormack and Amy Nicole McCormack of Unionville, MO; and great-grandson Bentley Baylor McCormack of Unionville, MO. She is also survived by two sisters, Helen Hill and Carolyn (Bill) Downey of Hamilton, MO, a brother James (Janet) Loveless of St. Joseph, MO, and a brother-in-law Virgil Leabo of Phoenix, AZ. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

She is preceded in death by a sister Mary Leabo.

Funeral services for Donna were held at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, on Monday, November 10, 2014. Visitation was on Sunday, November 9. Charlie Bill Pittman conducted the service with recorded musical selections “Go Rest High on That Mountain” and “Wind Beneath My Wings.” Casket bearers were Randy Griswold, Fred Richardson, Joe Carter, Reggie Brundage, David Wood, and Gary “Doc” Dunkin. Honorary bearers were Don Veirs, Charles O’Reilly, Ronnie Hill, Roger Hill, Donnie Hill, Bobby Hill, Bruce Loveless, and Steve Leabo. Interment was at the Unionville Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Putnam County 4-H Building Fund and the Putnam County Memorial Hospital and may be entrusted with Playle & Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St, Unionville, MO 63565.
