Joe Conway
Joe Conway, 57 of Kirksville passed away in his home in the early morning of Tuesday, November 25th, 2014 after a battle with lung cancer.
Joe was born September 8, 1957 to Carl and Peggy (Henry) Conway in Kremmling, CO. Joe married the love of his life, Kelly Claybrook on June 18th, 1977 at Stahl Church near Green Castle, MO.
Joe is survived by his wife, Kelly Conway; one daughter, Laura Jo Bennett and husband Chris of Kirksville; his father, Carl Conway and wife Carrie of Temple, OK; his brother, Mike Conway of Walden, CO; his sister, Carol Cardwell of Cape Girardeau, MO; his beloved aunt, Joann Shriver and husband Robert of St. Louis, MO; his mother-in-law, Alice Claybrook of Kirksville; a brother-in-law, Mike Claybrook and wife Twila of Columbia, MO; a sister-in-law, Lisa Williams and husband Tim of Green Castle, MO; as well as several nieces, nephews, and many many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Conway; all his grandparents, and his father-in-law, Arnold Claybrook.
In the late 70’s Joe moved from Waldon Co. to Novinger where he met and married Kelly. In November of 1978 their daughter, Laura Jo was born. In 1985 Joe moved his family to Rock Springs, WY, then in 1987 to Tucson, AZ where they lived until 2000 when they moved back to Kirksville. Joe was last employed as the manager of Custom Complete Automotive in Kirksville from February 2004 until November 2014 when he was fired when they learned he had cancer.
Joe never met a stranger. He loved visiting with and getting to know people. Some of Joe’s favorite things to do was going to car shows and showing his beautiful Mustangs, and visiting with his “car show family”. He enjoyed going out to sing karaoke with his family and friends. Since childhood Joe was an avid “Denver Bronco” fan and loved to watch them play.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday (November 28, 2014) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday (November 29, 2014) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Dan Doman officiating.
Honorary Bearers will be Mike Conway, Mike Casey, Tom Coberly, Dental Williams, Larry Howe, Charlie Newcomb, Danny Mahurin, and Ray Kensey.
