Mildred Irene Kollar

Mildred Irene Kollar, 91 of rural Queen City passed away Sunday evening November 30, 2014 at Kirksville Manor Care Center.

The daughter of George William and Sarah Effie (Thomas) Gage, she was born November 30, 1923, in Greentop, MO. On September 21, 1941 she was united in marriage to John Owens Kollar Jr.

Surviving are three sons, J.O. Kollar and wife Linda of Greentop, MO, Doug Kollar of Kirksville, MO, and Ken Kollar and wife Jo of Overland Park, KS; seven grandchildren, Robyn Kollar, Dana (Kollar) Flora and husband Doug, Jay Kollar and wife Naomi, Kim (Kollar) Baty and husband Darren, Kris (Kollar) Beckman and husband Sam, Whitney Kollar and Zach Kollar; ten great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Owens on April 28, 2006; her parents; a sister, Rosemary Montgomery; a brother, Robert William Gage; a daughter-in-law, Jackie Kollar; and a great grandchild, Benson Baty.

Mildred attended Greentop High School and graduated with the class of 1941. She joined with her husband in a farming operation southeast of Queen City in 1973, where she spent most of her life. Following the death of her husband, Mildred moved to Kirksville where she resided until her death.

She was a member of Kirksville Chapter #184 O.E.S. and was active in the Greentop Christian Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother, a 4-H leader, and participated in many school activities.

Mildred and Owens liked to camp and were members of the local Good Sam’s Club. She loved to play cards and was a member of our local Rook group.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (December 3, 2014) at the Queen City Christian Church with Pastor George Bradburn officiating. Burial will be in the Greentop Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John Robinson, Ronnie Hart, Jay Kollar, Darren Baty, Sam Beckman, Doug Flora, and Zach Kollar. Honorary bearers will be Morris McNabb, Albert Morgan and Jim Bland.

Visitation will be after noon of Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the
