Steve Jones, 33, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the University Of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, MO, on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, after being in declining health the past three years.

Steven Dale “Shorty” Jones was born in Unionville, MO, on August 15, 1981, the son of Steve and Glenda (Wood) Jones who survive at home in Unionville, MO. Shorty was reared in Unionville where he attended school and graduated from Putnam County High School in 2000. Shorty was active in all sports during his school years.

Shorty took time after High School to roam about some, holding jobs at an assortment of places, including Banquet Foods, Subway, and at various Nursing Homes. He returned to Unionville in 2012. In that same year he received a pacemaker and defibrillator. Shorty collected baseball cards and liked to follow the Baltimore Orioles baseball team and the Indianapolis Colts football team. He also liked to fish. Shorty was a member of Broadlawn Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Steve is survived by his brother, Tim and wife Sarah Jones of Lucerne, MO, and by four nephews: Vincent, Logan, Wyatt, and Leo Jones. Shorty’s girlfriend, Elizabeth Eriksen also survives as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive Shorty.

Steven was preceded in death by his grandparents, Orval and Mary Jones, and Glen and Almeda Wood.

Funeral services for Steven D. Jones will be at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, at 11:00 am on Friday, December 5, 2014. Visitation will take place one hour before the service. Interment will be at the Pherigo Cemetery southeast of Unionville.
