Marjorie L. Collins
Marjorie Louise Collins, 76 of Kirksville passed away Wednesday (December 10, 2014) at Twin Pines Adult Care Center.
The daughter of Emmett M. and Kathryn M. (Cooper) Brown, she was born March 16, 1936 in Stahl, MO. On February 29, 1964 in Brashear, MO she was united in marriage to Mervin L. Collins.
Marjorie is survived by one brother, Ricky L. Brown and wife Denise of Macon, MO; one niece, Chrissy Teter and husband Robbie of Callao, MO; one great niece, Camryn Teter; one great nephew, Bryce Teter; one aunt, Juanita Brown and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mervin in 2004; one brother, Vernon K. Brown; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Brown.
Marjorie was raised in the Stahl area and attended the Novinger School. When her parents moved to Millard, she attended the Kirksville Schools and graduated in 1954. She was employed at Montgomery Wards, the Florsheim Shoe Factory and last at Laughlin Hospital until she retired in 1964. She did volunteer work for the American Red Cross. She devoted much of her life to taking care of her parents and her mother-in-law.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, American Historical Society, Life After 50, American Legion Auxiliary, Humane Society and the Republican Club.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (December 13, 2014) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Northcutt officiating. Burial will be in Mulberry Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
