Norma Jean (Mason) May
Norma Jean (Mason) May, 84 of Connelsville, Missouri passed away Sunday (Dec. 21, 2014) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
The daughter of Oscar G. and Beulah A. (Lewis) Mason, she was born May 7, 1930 in Quincy, IL. On May 7, 1948 in Adair County, MO she was united in marriage to Joseph Sylvester May, who preceded her in death on April 30, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mary Lou Bass; one brother, Clifford Mason; One son, Russell May; and two grandsons, David Chrisman and Randy Chrisman.
Norma is survived by three sons, Frank May and wife Sharon of Kirksville, Fred May and wife Janet of Pollock, MO, and Bruce May and wife Charmyn of Queen City, MO; five daughters, Lois Chrisman and husband Roger of Green Castle, MO, Lola Brownell and husband John of Queen City, MO, Rosey White of Green Castle, MO, Rita Brownell and husband James of Milan, MO, and Patty Albrecht and husband John Buell of Milan, MO; twenty-two grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Truitt; and four brothers, Oscar J. Mason, Robert Mason, Ronald Mason and John mason.
Norma grew up and attended school in Kirksville. She worked at the International Shoe Factory and Grim Smith Hospital before going to work at Northeast Missouri State University in housekeeping where she worked until she retired in 1995.
She was a member of the Connelsville Bible Church. She was a great cook, loved to work in the garden and loved music. She had a smile for everyone she met. She always said; her greatest gift God ever gave her was her children.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (December 24, 2014) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Alan Coonfield officiating. Burial will be in Green Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Todd May, Brandon May, Jim Brownell, Matthew Brownell, John Brownell and John Buell. Honorary bearers are Mike Brownell, Matt Brownell, Bruce May and Frank May.
Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
