Alice Coleen Lawson, 82 of Kirksville passed away Tuesday (December 23, 2014) at her home.

The daughter of Ferrel and Virginia (Phillips) Brown, she was born October 13, 1932 in Trenton, MO. On June 11, 1951 in Memphis, MO she was united in marriage to James Lawson.

Coleen is survived by her husband, James; one son, Randy Lawson and wife Sherri of Wylie, TX; one daughter, Jolene Curtis and husband Larry of Kirksville; five grandchildren, Lisa Wineman, Tammy Scearce, Dustin Lawson, Trisha Merritt, and Jessica Schultz; eight great grandchildren, Connor and Paden Scearce, Matthew Wineman, Logan Lawson, Liem and Abby Merritt, Kylie and Keith Schultz; eight brothers, Charlie Brown of Cordel, OK, George Brown of Des Moines, IA, Ralph Brown of Leon, IA, Kenneth Brown of Ward, AR, Gary Brown of Lineville, IA, John Brown of Lineville, IA, Leonard Brown of Lineville, IA, and Michael Brown of Trenton, MO; and four sisters, Hazel Hayes of Dubuque, IA, Georgeann Brown of Trenton, MO, Mary Ellen Brown of Des Moines, IA, and Nellie Brown of Trenton, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Coleen grew up in the Trenton, MO and Novinger areas. She worked for the Travelers Hotel, Shamrock Hotel and in housekeeping at Grim Smith Hospital until she retired.

She loved to sew and make Quilts. She took great joy in taking care of her family.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday (December 26, 2014) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Novinger Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Paul Lawson, Dale Lawson, Jerry Norfolk, Geoff Bandermann, Mike Curtis, and Chris Scearce. Honorary bearers will be Larry Curtis and Bill Capps.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday at the
