Garrey Kneedler

Garrey Kneedler, 74, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Putnam County Care Center on Saturday, December 20, 2014. He has joined his wife LaDonna who preceded him in death on September 7, 1997.

Garrey was born in Decatur, IA, on May, 5, 1940, the youngest child of Guy and Martha (Snethen) Kneedler, who preceded him in death. Garrey spent most of his childhood years in the states of Washington and Iowa. He married LaDonna Lee on April 14, 1962.

Garrey and LaDonna began married life in the Kansas City, MO, area where Garrey worked as a maintenance technician with Manor Bakery. An injury at work and cerebral palsy caused Garrey to be unable to work later in life. He and LaDonna moved to north Missouri in the early 1970’s and lived in western Putnam County. Garrey liked to travel and experience other parts of the country and after doing this they returned to Unionville.

Garrey was well trained as an electrician and had a natural aptitude working with his hands. He was good with woodworking and building doll houses and other crafts. He liked to hunt and fish. He was a friendly person and could often be seen at Casey’s in Unionville, drinking soda and visiting with friends. Garrey was an excellent caregiver for LaDonna as her health deteriorated. He was a long time Mason, belonging to the lodge in Powersville, MO.

Garrey is survived by two sons, Kenny Kneedler and his wife Denise of Springfield, MO, and John Kneedler and his wife LaDonna of Missoula, MT. Nine grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren also survive.
In addition to his parents, Garrey was preceded in death by three sisters, Gloria, Betty, and Geneva, and by a brother, Bernard.

Graveside services for Garrey Kneedler will be at the Powersville Cemetery at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 27, 2014.Garrey’s request was that his body be cremated.
