Ruth Evalee Dare

Ruth Evalee Dare, 90 of Kirksville passed away Monday (January 26, 2015) at her home surrounded by her family.

The daughter of William and Eva (Vaughn) Watson, she was born April 5, 1924 near Kirksville, MO. On July 12, 1959 in Kirksville she was united in marriage to Cecil Everett Dare.

Ruth is survived by two daughters, Ruthie Sue Dare-Halma and husband Kelly and Sherry Lynne Dare both of Kirksville; two granddaughters, Natalie Halma and Olivia Halma; a sister-in-law, Darlene Dare of Plainfield, IN and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cecil on October 10, 1995; three sisters, Edith Rowe, Irma James and Helen Ross; and two brothers, Lloyd and Dean Watson.

After graduating from Kirksville High School, she began working at Southwestern Bell Corporation as a telephone operator. After marriage, she gave her full attention to raising her family. She had a love of learning; she was a Sunday school teacher, a special education paraprofessional, and piano teacher. She liked to garden, sew, quilt, crochet, but most of all, spend time with her family, especially her two granddaughters who were the light of her life.

Mrs. Dare was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Kirksville and was devoted to God and her family.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday (January 30, 2015) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Dan Todd and Graeme Golding officiating. The resurrection site will be in Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Jim Fowler, Dean James, Ron James, Lanny Morley, Glenn Rigdon, and Dennis Wilson.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the
