Sarah Clark
Sarah Clark, 88 of Kirksville passed away Tuesday (February 17, 2015) at Twin Pines Adult Care Center.
The daughter of R. Hubert and Sarah (Keesling) Russell, she was born in Belleview, MO on October 9, 1926. On November 8, 1953 in St. Louis, MO she was united in marriage to Ongle “Red” L. Clark.
Sarah is survived by her children, Dr. Elizabeth Clark of Kirksville, MO, Carol Clark of Columbia, MO, Norma K. Crawford and husband Kerwin of Columbia, MO and Norman Clark and wife Mary of Kirksville, MO; seven grandchildren, Ian Clark, Russell Clark, Duncan Clark, Catie Clark, Clancy Crawford, Olivia Crawford, and Katrina Crawford; two sisters, Marie Sloas of St. Peters, MO and Caroline Going and husband Gale of St. Louis, MO; seven sisters-in-law, Elinor Russell of Sturgeon, MO, Helen Russell of Columbia, MO, Betty Russell of Springfield, MO, Hazel Grooms of Alton, MO, Ann (Jim) Busby of Mountain View, MO, Kay Stewart of Eminence, MO, And Mary Eddy of Houston, AR; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers, one sister and six nephews.
Sarah grew up in the Bellevue Valley area and graduated high school from Arcadia Valley High School in Ironton, MO in 1944. She worked on the farm until moving to St. Louis and worked for Stix Baer & Fuller for eleven years. For the next 30 years she was a homemaker in Arnold, MO. In 1990 she moved to Columbia and in 2000 to Kirksville to be near family.
She was always active in the Methodist Church in the community where she lived. She was a Girl Scout Leader, active in UMW Sarah Circle, FISH Ministries, and the Torch Bearers young adult group, and her favorite activity was Senior Circle. She also enjoyed traveling and couponing. She enjoyed being involved in her children’s lives and their activities, and later reveled in spending time with her grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday (February 20, 2015) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Richard Northcutt officiating. Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday in the Bellevue Presbyterian Cemetery in Caledonia, MO.
