Janice Doolin
Janice Eileen (Fowler) Doolin, of Unionville, Mo. passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri after a lengthy illness.
J Janice was born on November 19, 1948 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Robert "Bob" and Eileen (Welsh) Fowler. She was raised in Putnam County just south of Unionville. Her parents preceded her in death.
Janice attended school in Putnam County graduating in 1966. Janice met and married Raymond Doolin August 16, 1968, and they lived all their married life in Putnam County. Janice graduated from Ottumwa College with a BSN in nursing in 1991. She worked at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital as an RN while also working full time as the school nurse serving in that position for 35 years. She continued to work at the hospital for several years after she retired from the school. Janice also worked for a time as a home health nurse in North Missouri serving several rural counties. She loved nursing and taking care of people; she lived her life with the goal of making life better for others. Janice touched hundreds of lives with her infectious joy and love of life, helping them heal. Many of her former "students" have said the hug they got from "Nurse Doolin" each morning made their day. She was truly a blessing to all she met.
Janice was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Devon; husband, Raymond Doolin; sister-in-law Betty Squire; several aunts and uncles.
Surviving are two brothers, Don (June) Fowler of Unionville, MO; Robert (Denna) Fowler of Chesterfield, MO; brother -in -law Arnold (Dee) Squire of Green City, MO; two daughters, Rhonda (Eric) Hoover, of Unionville, MO; Brenda (Brad) Hinkle, of Unionville, MO; a son, Brent (Emily) Doolin, of Macon, MO; 8 grandchildren; Sydney & Madison Hoover; Jaden, Mason, Lucas & Kalyn Hinkle; Gracie & Ella Doolin. Nephews; Joe (Stephanie) Rick (Connie), Rod (Ann) Squire; Rich (Kenndaline) & Ryan(Michelle) Fowler. Nieces, Louann (Mike) Stricklan, (Natalie (Tony) Lasley; Katherine (Jeff) Westhoff; several grand nieces and nephews; and several aunts and uncles.
Janice was a member of the First Christian Church and the 20-odd extension club.
Janice thoroughly enjoyed being around friends and family, her grandchildren were the light of her life and even in bad health she attended as many functions as possible to watch her grandchildren in their various activities. She will be dearly missed by many people, and yet we know her influence will continue to live on in each of our lives.
Funeral services for Janice Doolin will be at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, at 1:30 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2015. Visitation will be on Friday, March 20, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Interment will be at the Unionville Cemetery.
