Shirlene Irene Killday 81, of Kirksville passed away Monday, March 23, 2015 at Northeast Regional Medical Center, Kirksville, Missouri.

She was the daughter of Marvin and Maude (Payne) Morehead. Shirlene was born January 16, 1934 in Adair County Missouri. On May 18, 1952 in Edina, Missouri she was united in marriage to Robert Killday, who survives.

Shirlene is also survived by nine children, Karen (Killday) and Dave Shelledy of Norwalk, Iowa; Teresa (Killday) and Mitch Roberts of Cameron, Missouri; Robert F. and Chris Killday of Kirksville, Missouri; Rick and Judy Killday of Villa Ridge, Missouri; Lori (Killday) and Glen Eitel of Green Castle, Missouri; Lisa (Killday) and Bob Anderson of Roswell, Georgia; Susie (Killday) and Anthony Kitchen of St. Peters, Missouri; Karla Killday of Southfield, Michigan; Kelly (Killday) and Matt Holt of Kirksville, Missouri; one daughter-in-law, Dena Killday of Avondale, Missouri; 23 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Emma Lou Hays of Kirksville, Missouri and one brother, Benny Morehead of Kirksville, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Michael Killday; one brother, Bill Morehead; one brother in-law and one sister in-law.

Shirlene spent her early years in Gibbs, Missouri, moving to Brashear, Missouri where she attended school, graduating from the Brashear High School with the Class of 1951. After her marriage, she lived in Edina, Labelle, Kirksville, LaGrange, returning back to Kirksville in 1970. She was employed at Grim-Smith Hospital before she became a housewife and mother which she was doing most of her life.

Shirlene was a dedicated mother, hardworker and excellent cook who was very proud of her family and excited to become a grandmother and great grandmother. She was known for her feisty and spunky personality and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was a member of the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Kirksville, El Kadir Shrine Club Jewels and Women of the Moose.

Visitation with the family is Thursday, March 26, 2015 from 5 – 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.

Prior to Mass of Christian Burial there will be a brief visitation. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri with Father Chris Cordes officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Edina, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Brian Roberts, Matt Killday, Robert Killday, Kyle Eitel, Ian Anderson and Joey Thomas. Honorary bearers are: Michael Shelledy, Andrew Roberts, Tyler Roberts, Eric Killday, Aaron Killday, Ethan Eitel, Chris Eitel, Nathan Thomas and Gabe Thomas.
