Elveta Waddill
Elveta Altha Waddill 93, of Kirksville passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, MO, where she had been a short term resident.
The daughter of Millard and Rosalla Walters (Hills) Bradshaw, Elveta was born February 27, 1922 in Sullivan County, MO. On December 15, 1941 she was united in marriage to James Earl Waddill. They were married for 30 years. To this union, three children were born. James preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death were her parents and her step-father, Osa Hills of Novinger, MO.
Elveta is survived by her three children, Barbara and husband, Conrad Eurom of Powersville, MO , Jim Waddill of Greentop, MO and Debbie and husband, Wade Reese of Kirksville, MO; five grandchildren, Dennis and Doug Fehr, Stephanie Kelsey, Tyler and Cecily Reese; seven great-grandchildren, Heather Valentine, Tyler Kelsey, Michael Fehr & Sarah Jackson and Shane, Ryan and Aric Fehr; one great-great-granddaughter, Hadley Holdren; some very special friends and neighbors, and one special dog “Lady”.
Elveta attended school in Kirksville, graduating from the Kirksville High School with the Class of 1940. She worked occasionally at the family jewelry store but mostly being a homemaker while her children were young. Later in life she worked at the Holiday Inn and the Florsheim Shoe Factory until her retirement. Elveta enjoyed baking and listening to Helen Adams and Marvin McClanahan on the radio, she was known to them as the “Cookie Lady”. She was a member of the Heartland RSVP and while she was able enjoyed volunteering. She spent her last years as a resident of the Fjeld Arms apartments and very much enjoyed the company of her neighbors who resided there and also enjoyed making coffee in the mornings at the center.
Graveside service and burial will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015, at the Novinger Cemetery with Reverend Virgil Jones officiating.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Fehr, Doug Fehr, Michael Fehr, Shane Fehr, Ryan Fehr, Aric Fehr and Tyler Kelsey.
Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 TO 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015, at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
