Oda Beall
Oda Effadema Blanche Beall, 93 of Queen City passed away Monday (April 20, 2015) at Schuyler County Nursing Home.
The daughter of Aaron Grover and Mary Belle (Savage) Followwill, she was born May 4, 1922 in Putnam County. Oda grew up in Putnam County and attended area rural schools. She and her family moved to Cummings, Iowa in the early 1930’s and she attended and graduated from the Cummings High School.
In 1940 she married Glen Vroman and after a few years they moved to Missouri where they lived on the Bowen Ranch west of Queen City.
In the early 1970’s she married Ralph Alexander. They lived just outside of Glenwood. During this time she was employed at McGraw’s in Kirksville.
In September 1979 she married Roger Beall and lived in rural Greentop and worked for Hollister’s in Kirksville. Roger preceded her in death on September 1, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Virgil, Boyd, Norman, Charlie and Lawrence Followwill and one sister, Freda Kent.
Oda is survived by one sister-in-law, Mary Followwill of Spokane, WA, and several nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the New Harmony Freewill Baptist Church. She also belonged to a rural Greentop Extension Club.
Oda was a loving person and enjoyed reading, writing, gardening and loved flowers, birds and music.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (April 26, 2015) at 2:00 p.m. at the New Harmony Cemetery west of Greentop, MO, with Pastor Boyd Halford officiating. Arrangements under the direction of Dooley Funeral Home, Queen City, MO.
