Roy Dorsey

Roy Elihu Dorsey, 59, of Clarence, MO, passed away at the University Hospital in Columbia, MO on Monday, May 11, 2015.

Roy Dorsey was born on April 4, 1956 in Putnam County, the son of Lyman and Iva (Forkum) Dorsey. Roy was raised in Putnam County and after graduating from the Putnam County High School in 1975 he married Lillian Johnson. They later divorced. While in high school Roy enjoyed speed skating, even competing in St. Louis. Roy worked for Con Agra for 19 years before transferring to PSF. He then went to work for the City of Kirksville until his heart attack which left him disabled.

Roy Dorsey liked to hunt, fish, and target shoot. He enjoyed seeing the sights when he could. Roy attended the Assembly of God Church. As a believer he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who were precious to him.

Roy is survived by daughters Evelyn “Faye” Holtel and husband Billy of Clarence, MO and Jennifer Dorsey of Unionville, MO. Roy’s surviving grandchildren are Richard, Angel, Brandon, Emerald, and Eli. Surviving brothers are Ozia Wyatt and wife Rayma of Centerville, IA; Jim Dorsey and wife Melvina of Galt, MO; and Gary Dorsey of Green Ridge, MO. Surviving sisters are Barb Varney and husband Rex of Centerville, IA and Evelyn Graham of Green Castle, MO.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by a brother Dale Dorsey and a nephew Derek Dorsey.

A memorial service for Roy Dorsey will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, May 16th at Broadlawn Baptist Church in Unionville, MO. Interment

Memorials for Roy are suggested to the Family and may be entrusted to the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.

Inurnment will take place at the Union Cemetery, Unionville, MO.
