Willadene Brummit

Willadene Brummit, 88 of Kirksville passed away Thursday (May 14, 2015) at Twin Pines Adult Care Center.

The daughter of Virgil McDonald and Bernie Irene (Stidmon) Pickett, she was born June 8, 1926 in Sidney, Missouri. On May 23, 1944 in Kirksville she was united in marriage to John Jasper Brummit and he preceded her in death on July 28, 1981.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Michael Anthony Brummit and Jared Collins Brummit; two great grandchildren, Christian Leann Brummit and Layne Grace Brummit; three brothers and one sister.

Willadene is survived by her children, Dennis Brummit and wife Ramona of Ormond Beach, FL, Randy Brummit and wife Phyllis of Kirksville, Mike Brummit and wife Linda of Kirksville and John Brummit and wife Janet of Waukee, IA; eight grandchildren, John O. Brummit, Ira Brummit, Abby Mayer, Kristian Sanders, Teresa Dunn, Lindsey Fraser, John V. Brummit and Justin Brummit; 17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Willadene attended the Stahl rural school and graduated from Kirksville High School. She lived a short time in Chicago while her husband was recovering from injuries he received in the war. She returned to Kirksville and did babysitting in her home for hundreds of kids over the years; which she loved to do.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed her children and their activities; she also enjoyed quilting, cross stitching, baking and was an excellent pie maker. She has lived the last two years in Twin Pines Adult Care Center.

Funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday (May 17, 2015) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Justin Brummit, John Brummit, Ira Brummit, Morgan Mayer, Chris Dunn, Ben Fraser, Justin Sanders, and John Oliver Brummit.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the
