Paul A. Barker, 98 of Kirksville passed away Friday (May 29, 2015) at the Schuyler County Nursing Home where he had been for one week. Up until that time he had resided at his home east of Kirksville.

The son of Herbert W. and Lelah C. (Shockey) Barker, he was born March 1, 1917 in Adair County, Missouri. On August 23, 1942 in Kirksville he was united in marriage to Mary Roselene Kellison and she preceded him in death on May 4, 1974. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Cliston Paul Barker Jr., and a daughter-in-law, Roylene Barker.

Paul is survived by three sons, Cliston Barker and wife Anita of Greentop, MO, Rick Barker of Chillicothe, MO, and Jack Barker of New Jersey; one daughter, Karla Walker of Kirksville; seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, two step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren; and cousins, Walda Ann Paris and husband Garnet of Green Castle, MO and John Shockey and wife Patty of Kirksville.

Paul was born in the Gibbs area where he attended rural school. He graduated from Kirksville High School with the class of 1935 and was the last living member of his class. He moved to the farm east of Kirksville in 1933 with his parents. He did custom farming all over the Adair County area his whole life.

He was a member of the International Harvester Club and a former member of the Kirksville Moose Lodge. He was very active in the FFA and the Radical Ridge 4-H club. He loved red tractors and gardening.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday (June 3, 2015) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Don Noble officiating. Music will be provided by Dwight Buckingham singing, “Sweet Bye and Bye” and “The Old Rugged Cross” accompanied by Dianthe Cable. Burial will be in Maple Hills Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Terry Beets, Ronnie Kellison, Scott Fisher, Levi Call, Justin Coy, and Randy Shahan. Honorary bearers will be Dick Hughes, Charlie Donaldson, Gauge Craig, Ronald Current, and Joshua Craig.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the
