Donald graduated from Unionville High School in 1953 and then attended the University of Missouri in Columbia where in majored in mathematics and engineering. Donald first worked in southern Iowa and northern Missouri where he installed telephone poles, wires, etc., before he was an inspector for the Missouri Department of Transportation for over 25 years. A fall from a bridge overpass forced him to resign and left him crippled.
The two best events in Donald’s life were when he married Eva Pauley on August 6, 1977. She preceded him in death on May 29, 2012, and when he was saved in Bro. Ogden’s tent revival in Lucerne. Donald took both of these commitments quite seriously.
Donald and Eva took many trips of the USA and Canada and they attended church faithfully. They moved from Raytown, MO, to Ft. Madison, IA, in 2004. Donald enjoyed doing large, 2,000 piece puzzles of western landscapes, scenes of long ago, rural life and religious pictures which his step-son Richard framed for him. He also enjoyed stamp collecting. Donald had a photographic memory of dates, facts, and the Bible, which he studied every day. He was well studied in politics, American history and geography of the United States. He knew every county seat of every county in all 50 states. Donald was a mathematical genius, his mind staying razor sharp to the end. Donald will be remembered as always so honest and kind. Donald lived with diabetes the last 26 years of his life. He will be sadly missed, but friends and family know with certainty he is in Heaven with his Savior and loved ones and he has a new body.
