Mary Dora Mountain
Mary Dora Mountain, 92 of Kirksville passed away Saturday (July 11, 2105) at Northeast Regional Medical Center.
The daughter of Clarence Albert and Mary M. (McCully) Ross, she was born February 14, 1923 in Marion, IN. On July 27, 1945 in Kirksville, MO she was united in marriage to Fred L. Mountain and he preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Jeanne Findling; one grandson, Kevin Shultz; eight brothers and sisters, Crawford B. Ross, Charles Ross, Chester Ross, Cleland Ross, Martha Skinner and three that died at a young age,
Mary is survived by one daughter, Barbara “Bobbi” Shultz and husband Dennis of Kirksville; one son-in-law, Carrol D. Findling of Kirksville; four grandchildren, Michelle D. Caton and husband Wayne, Angela Meng, Steve Hall and wife Judy, and Brian D. Shultz; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary moved to Missouri at a young age and graduated from Kirksville High School. She moved to Wichita, KS and worked for Boeing as a riveter during the war. She moved back to Kirksville where she met and married Fred. She was a homemaker and after her children were grown she went to work at Hollister’s until she retired.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and Senior Circle. She loved her kids and grandkids and enjoyed sewing, crafts and scrapbooking.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday (July 15, 2015) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend David Fowler officiating. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jim Fowler, Carson Adams, Jerry Skinner, Wayne Caton, Dennis Shultz, and Jerry Warren.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday and the
Davis-Playle-Hudon-Rimer Funeral Home
