Marcella Robb, 100, passed away at the Putnam County Care Center in Unionville, MO, on Wednesday, July 15, 2015. She had been a resident there for ten years.
Marcella Emeline Robb was born in Unionville, MO, on December 12, 1914, the daughter of Zoe Casper and Myrtle (Kirby) Way. Marcella’s parents both passed away during the 1918 flu epidemic and Marcella was left in the care of her grandmother, Sara Kirby, who moved her back from Iowa to Unionville where Marcella was reared and a lifelong resident. She was baptized into the Christian Church at a young age. She married Charles Albert “Bert” Robb in Unionville, MO, on March 25, 1931, and he preceded her in death on April 23, 1998.
Marcella worked for a time at Ross Produce and for several years at Yount’s Café, both in Unionville. Mostly she was a homemaker who took in ironing for other people and raised her five children. Marcella had a wonderful sense of humor that she has passed on to her family. She liked to play practical jokes as well as about any card game (especially Rummy and Crazy Eight) or board game. Marcella was a person of strong and determined spirit who was a wonderful inspiration to her family. She loved to raise flowers and cook, with specialties like homemade noodles, any kind of pie, cornbread, fried potatoes, and beans.
Marcella is survived by sons, Albert Lee “Sammy” Robb of Unionville, MO, and Robert Eldon (Mary Jane) Robb of Mission, TX; and by daughters, Dixie Mullins of Trenton, MO, and Vicki Jo (Lance) Scott of Overland Park, KS. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 21 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marcella was preceded in death by a son, Donald Robb, a brother, Edison Way; grandchildren Mark Mullis, Kevin Robb, Janice (Mullins) Kincade, a great granddaughter Jamie Lamma and a great-great grandson son, Robbie Hill, Jr.
Funeral services for Marcella Robb will be at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, Unionville, MO, at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 18, 2015, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Unionville Cemetery.
Memorials for Marcella are suggested to the Putnam County Care Center and may be entrusted with Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
