Wayne E. Gregory
Wayne Eldon Gregory, 80 years old, passed from this life to a much better place on July 18, 2015 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO.
Wayne was the son of Otto (Jack) and Clair (Hinerman) Gregory, born February 9, 1935 in rural Schuyler County, MO. He attended school in Livonia, MO. Wayne was inducted into the United States Army in August, 1957 and received an honorable discharge in August, 1959. Wayne resided in Barstow, CA for a short time, returning to Missouri where he married the love of his life, Margaret (Robbins) Gregory on July 19, 1960. To this union two children were born, Wayne, Jr. (Debbie) Gregory of Kirksville, MO and Tiffany (Bill) Sloop of Kirksville, MO.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Margaret, of the home; daughter, Tiffany; son, Wayne, Jr., six grandchildren, Jeffrey (Ashlee) Martin of Fort Polk, LA, Derek Gregory of Worthington, MO, Meghan (Shawn) Hoover, Zachary (Ashley) Stephens of Greentop, MO and Paige Cornelison of Kirksville, MO; nine great-grandchildren and two on the way. Wayne is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Ruggles of Queen City, MO; a brother, Paul D. (Evelyn) Gregory of Denver, IA and a host of friends, nieces and nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, Jack and Clair Gregory; sister-in-law, Joanne Clark and two brothers-in-law, James Clark and Bill Ruggles.
Wayne and Margaret made their home in Worthington, MO. Wayne was a man of many talents; he owned a garage and did mechanical work, drove trucks, operated a salvage yard and worked at Worthington AG Service. Upon retirement, Wayne and Margaret moved to Kirksville to make their home. After moving to Kirksville, Wayne helped friends building houses, doing cement work, heating and cooling and mechanical work. He was always busy and it seemed like he could fix anything.
Wayne was a member of the Pentecostal Church in Worthington and in Kirksville. Wayne had a real faith in God, he loved his Lord and his fellow man.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Music will be provided by Sandy Rogers and Donna Steele singing, “Mansion Over The Hilltop”, “When The Roll Is Call Up Yonder” and “The Last Mile Of The Way”. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville, MO.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Martin, Murl Lusher, Randall Junior Eiler, John Anesi, Shawn Hoover and Gary Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Robbins, Edward Robbins, David Robbins, Junior Robbins, Bill Sloop, Gary Hinerman and Richard Weese.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2015, at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.
