Marvin Lowell Risher Sr.
Marvin Lowell Risher Sr., 69 of Novinger passed away Monday (July 20, 2015) at Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia, MO.
The son of Carlos Jack and Mary (Lotz) Risher, he was born March 25, 1946 in Annapolis, MO. He was married to Carol Radford in February of 1982 in Novinger, MO and to this union two children were born.
Marvin is survived by one son, Marvin Risher Jr. and finance Connie of Novinger, MO; one daughter, Jackie Dorris and husband Daniel of Kirksville; four grandchildren, Nicki, Janelle, Tristan, and Chaten; one brother, Roy Risher of Greentop, MO; one step-sister, Alice Claybrook of Kirksville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step mother, Sarah Emma Kephart; brothers, Paul Risher and Floyd Risher; sister, Sue Billington; step sister, Nellie Sizemore; step brother, Charles Hodges; and life long friend and partner, Carol Radford.
Marvin grew up and attended school in Annapolis, MO and Kirksville. He served in the United States Army in the 25th Infantry division in Saigon Vietnam from December 7, 1968 to December 6, 1969. He worked his entire life in the sawmills, working in Ray Allen Mill in Iowa and the Kenmar Timber Mill in Clifton Hill, MO until he retired. He was the Novinger city Marshall from 1978 – 1982.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and giving them 4-wheeler rides and enjoyed welding.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday (July 25, 2015) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Alan Coonfield officiating.
Visitation with the family will be from 9:00 to 10:00 Saturday at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
