Malinda Garr, 39, passed away unexpectedly at her home in rural Unionville, MO, on Wednesday, July 22, 2015. She had been in declining health for several months.

Malinda Lynn Garr was born in Unionville, MO, on November 6, 1975, the daughter of Donald Garr and Debbie Smith. She was reared in Unionville and attended Putnam County R-1 schools. Malinda was an active part of the Unionville community, serving on the Unionville Fire Department for three years, the Unionville Park Board for three years, and was an active member of the Freedom of the Road Riders. She worked at Putnam County Care Center for 11 years and also worked for Patient Care and Footwear as a home health care worker for five years. Malinda will be remembered for her care for others and her desire to always be helpful. She also worked at the Steer-in Café and at AppleSeeds.

Malinda liked to hunt and fish. She liked to ride her Harley-Davidson motorcycle and to tinker with engines, especially with her grandpa. She liked kids and helped with Chariton Hills Rodeo Bible Camp for three years. Malinda was a member of Omaha Baptist Church.

Malinda is survived by her father, Donald Garr of Unionville, MO, and her mother, Debbie Smith, also of Unionville, MO. She is also survived by three sisters, Casandra Casady of Unionville, MO, Tammy Jacques and husband Marty of Novinger, MO, and Loretta Rozell of St. Joseph, MO; and a brother, Bobby Garr of Kirksville, MO. Her grandmother, Mae Smith, also survives as well as nieces Raley and Maelynn O’Connell, cousins, and a host of friends.

Malinda was preceded in death by her grandpa, Bob Smith, her grandma and Grandpa, Velma & Raymond Garr, aunts Ruth Clay, Genevieve Campbell, uncle Jimmy Garr, and aunt and uncle Barbara and Edward Garr.

Funeral services for Malinda Garr will be at the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 25, 2015. Visitation will take place one hour before services. Interment will be at the Unionville Cemetery.
