Marla Colleen Eckel

Marla Eckel (née Osborn), 58 of Brashear, MO, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, July 21, 2015. The daughter of Avery Sidney and Peggy (Clark) Osborn, she was born September 13, 1956 in Kirskville, MO. She graduated from Brashear High School in 1974 and attended Truman State University, where she was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. On January 30, 1982, Marla was united in marriage to Benny Eckel.

Marla worked for Hurley Medical Center in Flint, MI for 12 years until relocating to West Palm Beach, FL and eventually, Pawleys Island, SC, where she was the Director of Rehab with Georgetown Hospital System. She was also a member of the Davison United Methodist Church in Michigan, where she spent many years as a key part of the church choir. Marla loved to sing, shop, laugh, travel and play hostess to friends and family throughout the years.

Marla is survived by one daughter, Ashley Eckel and her fiancé Ben Deibert of Brooklyn, NY; one brother, Alan Osborn and his wife Carmen, of Lexington, SC; along with several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her two beloved cats, Zachary and Boregard. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015 with a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. 2100 E. Shepherd Ave. Kirksville, MO 63501 660-665-2233
