Robert Sapp age 73, of Queen City passed away Wednesday (February 4, 2009) at his home.
The son of James Riley and Melissa May (Eilders) Sapp he was born September 30, 1935 at Green Castle, Missouri. On April 13,1955 he was united in marriage to Willa Mae Fowler and to this union three sons were born. On May 24, 1982 he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Pipes who survives.
Also surviving are his three sons, Mike Sapp of Kirksville, Missouri, Richard Sapp and wife Margaret of Queen City, Missouri, and Randy Sapp and wife Jackie of Greentop, Missouri; six grandchildren, Ben Sapp, Amber Sapp, Dustin Sapp, Jared Sapp. Jordan Sapp, and Shayna Sapp; two sisters, Edna Veatch , of Queen City, Missouri, and Betty Lewis and husband Junior of Queen City, Missouri; two brothers, Ronnie Sapp and wife Carolyn of Waterloo, Iowa, and Richard Sapp and wife Doris of Green Castle, Missouri and many nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers John, Paul, Jim, Larry, and Gordon Sapp and one sister Mary Bellamy.
Robert grew up in the Worthington and Queen City area. He attended Satterfield rural school and the Queen City High School. On February 29, 1956 he joined the United States Air Force, where he served until being honorably discharged on February 28, 1960. While in the service he earned his GED.
He was an avid outdoors sportsman. He hunted and sold Indian artifacts and loved to hunt mushrooms.
A visitation will be held Friday night (February 13, 2009) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Dooley Funeral Home.
