Novle Layne Jones
Novle Jones, 78, of Queen City passed away Friday (July 24, 2015) in the Samaritan Hospital in Macon, Mo.
The son of Birney and Ethel (McCormick) Jones he was born February 8, 1937 in Queen City. On September 7, 1957 in Queen City he was united in marriage to Roberta Wheeler and to this union two sons were born, Mark and Avery.
Novle is survived by his wife Roberta, his sons Mark and wife Lisa of Lancaster, and Avery and wife Mary of Queen City. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Chris Jones of Queen City, Natasha Nolte and husband Cody of Queen City, Thaddeus Jones of Lancaster and Ethan Jones of Lancaster, two great grandchildren: Kollin and Brandt Nolte of Queen City. Novle is also survived by one brother, Ward Jones, one sister Kay Sidwell and husband Don, five Brothers-in-law, one Sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Nola Ann Jones a grandson Mikel Jones, a brother Norman Lynn Jones, and a granddaughter Britney Jones.
Novle grew up in Queen City and attended the Queen City Schools, graduating from the Queen City High School with the class of 1955.
He served in the United States Army for two years and was honorably discharged in May 1966.
Novle and Roberta lived in Kirksville after their marriage and he worked for the International Shoe Co. for twenty years. In 1974 they moved to the Queen City area , were they owned and operated the School Buses from 1979 to 1997.
He was a member and deacon of the Queen City Baptist Church.
Novel enjoyed woodworking, listening to old record collections, boating, water skiing, and camping. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and spending time with his friends and family.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday (July 27, 2015) at the Queen City Baptist Church with Pastors Tim Van Bebber and Robert Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Queen City Cemetery, with military rites by the Schuyler County American Legion, Post 784.
Pallbearers will be Chris Jones, Thaddeus Jones, Ethan Jones, Cody Nolte, Ashley Bulechek, and Bryan Jones. Honorary bearers will be Kollin Nolte and Brandt Nolte.
Visitation will be after 1:00 p.m. on Sunday (July 26, 2015) with the family receiving friends and family from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the
