Roma L. Salladay

Mrs. Roma L. (Haberstich) Salladay passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Northeast Regional Medical Center .

Roma is survived by her husband of 66 years, Merrill Salladay, Jr., two daughters, Konnie Balay of Santa Maria , CA , Jane Wheeler of Kirksville and one son, Breton Salladay of Novinger. Mrs. Salladay has six grandchildren, Karina Carvajal, Hugo Carvajal, Tracy Lathrom, Brandon Salladay, Amanda Wheeler and Austin Wheeler.  She also has eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her  parents, Emil and Nada Haberstich, one sister, Enid Crist and two brothers, Oral and Olin Haberstich.

Roma was born on November 11th, 1922 and was a lifelong resident of Adair County . She graduated from Kirksville Senior High School in 1939. On January 31st, 1942 , she was married to Merrill E. Salladay Jr. She and her husband owned and operated Salladay Implement Company and were engaged in farming, until their retirement in 1981. Roma greatly enjoyed raising a large garden every summer and loved sharing its bounty. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

According to her wishes, a private family memorial service will be held  January 31st, under the direction of Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Chaplin Dennis Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Park View Memorial Garden .
