Richard Kinney
Richard Kinney, 60, of rural Kirksville passed away Wednesday (August 12, 2015) at his home.
The son of Edsel and Juanita (Secord) Kinney he was born August 15, 1954, in Jerome, Idaho. He grew up in Twin Falls, Idaho and attended the Twin Falls schools. He enlisted in the United States Army when he was seventeen and served for ten years. He received his high school diploma while serving in the Army.
On April 10, 1982 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Flynn, who survives. He is also survived by three sons; Justin Kinney of Kirksville, Eric Turner of Nampa, Idaho, and Anthony Kinney of Kirksville, one daughter Jeanie Kinney of Kirksville, and grandchildren; Samantha Turner of Nampa, Idaho, and Madison and Wyatt Bane of La Plata, Missouri. Richard is also survived by two sisters, Joyce Kelsey of Kirksville and Marjorie Kinney of Portland, Oregon, one brother Edsel Kinney Jr. of Kirksville, and three nephews James Kinney of Kirksville, David Kelsey of Portland, Oregon, and Matthew Kelsey of Fort Madison, Iowa.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
He owned small engine repair shops in Milton, Iowa, Moberly, Missouri, and Kirksville, Missouri.
He was a loving husband and father and will be missed by many.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday (August 17, 2015) in the Dooley Funeral Home with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Burial will be in the Jimtown Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Schuyler County American Legion, Post 784.
Pallbearers will be James Glaspie, James Kinney, Chad Hill, Joe Wiese, Richard Wiese, and Calvin Heady. Honorary bearer will be Bo Glaspie.
Visitation will after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday (August 16, 2015) with the family receiving friends and family from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Dooley Funeral Home, Queen City, MO 63561
