Janet Hamilton

Janet Hamilton passed away at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville, MO, on Tuesday, February 10, 2009. She was 85 years of age.
Janet Pearl (Howard) Hamilton was born in Powersville, MO, on May 31, 1923, the daughter of Neal and Hazel (Byron) Howard who preceded her in death. She attended rural schools in Putnam County and graduated from Unionville High School. On October 10, 1941 she married Russell Hamilton in Princeton, MO, and he preceded her in death on February 16, 2002.
Janet and Russell farmed in the Lucerne area until 1964 when they moved to a farm just west of Unionville. Janet enjoyed her life as a farmer’s wife. She was a good cook and liked to cook for the workers who helped Russell on the farm. She liked to garden and she raised vegetables and flowers. Janet had a fun and outgoing personality. She was an active church member and lately attended the Unionville United Methodist Church.
Janet is survived by two daughters: Pamela Ajami and her husband Nasser of Skokie, IL and Charlotte Krup and husband Jim of Rock Island, IL. Four grandchildren also survive and they are Edward Ajami, Nadia Scott and her husband Ryan, Stacy Walker and her husband Josh, and Julie Caraccio and her husband Tony. Janet’s two great grand children are Justin and Jackson Walker. Janet is also survived by three step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Janet Hamilton were Friday, February 13, 2009 at the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home with visitation on Thursday, February 12. Pastor Kevin Collins conducted the service with recorded musical selections “In the Garden,” “Amazing Grace,” and “God Be with You ‘Til We Meet Again.” Casket bearers were Edward Ajami, Tony Caraccio, Josh Walker, Nick Michaels, Kevin Howard, and Greg Howard. Honorary casket bearers were Ryan Scott and Jeff Howard. Interment was in the Unionville Cemetery.
