Larry Lee Cooper
Larry Cooper, 68 passed away Sunday (September 13, 2015) at his home in Lancaster.
The son of Lee and Dorothy (Bevard) Cooper, he was born June 15, 1947 in Edina, Missouri. On April 2, 1967, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Rose Weldon and to this marriage three sons were born.
Larry is survived by his sons, Brian Cooper and wife Karen of Clark, MO, Scott Cooper and wife Donna of Brookfield, MO and Justin Cooper of Lancaster; nine grandchildren; one great grandson; a brother, Charlie Cooper of Greentop; two sisters, Doris Pave and Maxine Swift and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rebecca; and a brother, Loyal Wayne Cooper.
Larry lived in the Edina area and attended Edina School through the second grade, moving to Schuyler County in 1955 where he attended school in Lancaster and graduated from the Lancaster High School. In the fall of 1966 he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving in Georgia and Vietnam. In the fall of 1970 he was honorably discharged. After the service he and Rebecca lived in Burlington, Iowa, until 1979 when they moved to Lancaster and he worked for the Shoe Factory in Kirksville. In 2002 he went to work for John Deere and worked there until his retirement in 2012.
Larry was a member of the Lancaster Christian Church. He was devoted to his family. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and being outside gardening and farming.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (September 19, 2015) at the Lancaster Christian Church with Pastor Billy Wallace officiating.
Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dooley Funeral Home.
