Ella Mae Yarnell

Ella Mae Yarnell, 84, of Kirksville passed away Sunday morning (September 20, 2015) at the Golden Living centers Pin Oaks in Mexico, MO.

The daughter of LaVerne Everett and Rocelia Gertrude (Craig) Walker, she was born July 17, 1931 in Adair County, MO. On March 21, 1977 in Washington, IA she was united in marriage to Jerry Dean Yarnell.

Ella is survived by four sons, William John Little of Kirksville, Gary Wayne Little and wife Mary of Indianola, IA, Terry Lee Little and wife Petra of Germany, and Gerald W. Yarnell and wife Linda of Pueblo, CO; three daughters, Sandra Wilson of Descanso, CA, Beverly Lynn Yarnell of Texas, Patsy Lynn Dunai of Michigan; two half sisters, Jane Larson and husband Ronald of Joy, IL, and Patricia Olsen and husband Art of Joy, IL; one brother, Wilford L. Walker and wife Gloria of Monmouth, IL; half brother, David Walker and wife Elizabeth of Aledo, IL; twenty-three grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two daughters Marylin Jean Yarnell and Laura Lee Bellet and two grandsons, William John Little Jr. and Daniel Yarnell.

Ella grew up in the Kirksville area, moved to Washington, Iowa where her step-father was a farmer and worked for the railroad. She completed her high school diploma after her children were born. She worked at the calendar factory, Advance Ross, and the University of Iowa where she retired. She was also an instructor at the pool for arthritis patients.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kirksville and a member of the woman of the moose. She enjoyed quilting, making and collecting dolls.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday (September 25, 2015) at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cheeseman Cemetery in western Adair County, Missouri.
