Cheryl Minear
Cheryl Minear, 67, of Powersville, MO, passed away at St. Luke Hospital in Kansas City, MO, on Saturday, September 19, 2015. She had been in failing health for the past year.
Cheryl Lynn (Shriver) Minear was born in Corydon, IA, on January 3, 1948, the daughter of Ray and Myrtle (Reed) Shriver, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Unionville High School in 1966. Cheryl married Lyle Minear on January 15, 1967 and he survives at home. Cheryl and Lyle were foster parents in the 1970’s. Cheryl was a member of the Lone Star Quilting Club and also sold Avon for many years. She was actively involved in her community.
Cheryl was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a homemaker. She loved playing cards, sewing, doing puzzles and being around friends and family.
In addition to her husband Cheryl is survived by two children: Kimberly (Jason) Colbruno of Kansas and Megan (Charlie) Wilson of Iowa. Her grandchildren are Tanner Todd, Colton Dicken, and Sammi, C. J., Trevor, and Benny Wilson. Her great grandchild is Elijah Carrion. She is also survived by a brother, Doyle Shriver and sister-in-law Kay (Gale) Newby and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Cheryl was preceded in death by her in-laws, James and Maxine Minear, her brothers, Junior and Wesley Shriver and sister Shirley Rea and brother-in-law Gene Rea as well as sister-in-law Thelma Shriver. Her son, Lyle “Bud” Minear, Jr. also preceded her in death as well as son-in-law Larry Todd, grandson Travis Todd and nephew Michael Rea.
Cheryl’s wishes were to be cremated with services to be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials to assist with funeral expenses. These may be entrusted with Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
