Edith Mae (Casady) Crooks was born February 28, 1914 in Putnam County to Everett L. and Nettie Belle (Keller) Casady. She was married to Kermit E. Crooks who preceded her in death on September 19, 1975.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers: Elvin Casady, Harry Casady and Calvin Casady, two sisters, Fern Pickering and Betty Shipley, a daughter-in-law, Patsy Crooks and one niece, Carol Casady.
She is survived by two sons, Richard L. Crooks and wife Maleen of St. Louis, MO and Roger W. Crooks and wife Kathy of Davenport, IA; six grandchildren, Peggy McCullough and husband Bill, Kelly Crooks and wife Debbie of Davenport, IA, Kim Crooks and wife Patti of E. Lansing, MI, Mark Crooks and wife Elizabeth of Iowa City, IA, John Crooks and wife Kathy of Avon Lake, OH and Susan Leatherberry of St. Louis, MO; great grandchildren, Derek, Neal, Samantha, Olivia, Annie, Caitlin, Ben, Jack, Joe, Mae, Elizabeth, Amy, Andrew, Deanne and Jorden; two step granddaughters, Danielle Zack and Allison Clark and one step great granddaughter, Elisabeth; three sisters-in-law, Betty Casady of Unionville, MO, Jewel Casady of Centerville, IA and Lois Crooks of Columbia, MO and many nieces and nephews.
Edith was born and raised in Putnam County, attended school at Graysville, moving to Greentop after the death of her husband. She was a member of Martinstown Freewill Baptist Church where she taught a Sunday School Class and Bible School for many years. She has attended church in the Greentop area since moving there in 1976.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 28, 2009) at the Dooley Funeral Chapel with Reverend Don Rowland officiating. Music will be provided by Dennis and Beverly Huskisson, selections will be "Precious Memories" and "Beyond The Sunset". Interment will be in the Martinstown Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kelly Crooks, Kim Crooks, Mark Crooks, John Crooks, Neal Crooks, Bill McCullough and Derek Crooks.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening (Feb. 27, 2009) at the
Dooley Funeral Home
