Marjorie C. Wormsley, 92 of Overland Park, KS formally of Kirksville passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Rose Estates Assisted Living in Overland Park, KS.
The daughter of Ocha George and Rebecca M. (Welch) Pile, Marjorie was born December 28, 1916 near Keytesville, MO. On June 29, 1940 she was united in marriage to James Monroe Wormsley of Polo, MO on her family farm.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Mary C. (Cathie) Myers and husband Gary of Kirksville; her son, James P. (Phil) Wormsley and wife Kristi of Ft. Dodge, IA; grandsons,
Clint Myers and wife Jenn of Olathe, KS, Scott Wormsley and wife Amy of Urbandale, IA, Jon Wormsley of Bolder, CO; great-grandchildren, Nate and Ben Myers, Peyton and Kenzie Wormsley; sister, Becky Raasch and husband Harold of Overland Park, KS; brother-in-law, John Patton of Lake Ozark, MO, and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband and one sister, Mary Jane Patton preceded her in death.
Marjorie was reared in Chariton County, MO and attended Salisbury Public schools. She attended Stephens College, Columbia, MO and graduated from University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. She started the Home Economics Department in Hamilton, MO, taught in Hillsboro, MO before moving to Kirksville where James Monroe worked for the U.S.D.A. Farmer Home Administration. In Kirksville she was a substitute teacher in the Public Schools, did volunteer work and was a homemaker.
Marjorie was a member of the 1st Christian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Retired Teachers Assoc., National Association of Retired Federal Employees, past member of Sojourners Club and Life after 50.
Marjorie loved her family and delighted in the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She has given numerous memories to each of us. She loved to travel and always had many stories to share.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009 at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Rev. John Dugan officiating. Burial in Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville.
Pall bears will be Clint Myers, Scott Wormsley, Jon Wormsley, Harold Raasch, Randy Reinhardt and Zach Reinhardt.
Visitation with the family will be from 6-7 p.m. Friday February 27, 2009 at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
