Veda Wright, 90, of Queen City passed away Saturday (October 10,2015) in the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

The daughter of Samuel Ray and Elfia Blanche (Hagger) McBee she was born September 25,1925, in Schuyler County. On March 20, 1944 in Queen City she was united in marriage to Eskie Wright Jr. and to this marriage three children were born, Dan, Madelon, and Rose.

Veda grew up in the Queen City area and attended the Queen City Schools, graduating with the class of 1943. While in high school she was in the choir, pep squad, and was the Drum Majorette for the band. Following high school she taught in the Pleasant View Rural School. She lived all her married life in the Queen City area. She worked for White's Grocery, Murfin's Grocery and Partin's Grocery for several years. She also sold Westmoreland Sterling Silver and Avon.

Veda is survived by her son Dan Wright and wife Pat of Foley, Alabama, a daughter Rose Knight of Plano, Iowa, eight grandchildren; Jodi Bradley and husband Tim, Kelli Wright, Danielle Stewart and husband Jason, Jay Butler and wife Jing, Billy Knight and wife Cyndee, Michelle Robinson and husband
Patrick, Jennifer Jones and husband Jerry, and Nicole Johnson. She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren, three nephews; Kenneth Slaughter and wife Vickie, David Slaughter and wife Dee, and Ronnie Slaughter and wife Sherry, and one niece, Lynne Sloop and husband Robert.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1997, a daughter Madelon Butler in 2014, a granddaughter Jill Butler in 1987, a sister Norma Slaughter in 1995, and two sons-in-law Jerome Butler in 2010 and Tony Knight in 2013.

Veda was a member of the Queen City Christian Church where she was a member of the Bethany Class and the C.W.c. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and had received her fifty year
pin.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (October 14, 2015) in the Dooley Funeral Home with Pastor George Bradburn officiating. Burial will be in the Queen City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Billy Knight, Dan Wright, Anthony Knight, Kenneth Slaughter, David Slaughter, and Ronnie Slaughter.

Visitation will be after noon on Tuesday (October 13, 2015) with the family receiving friends from
6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Dooley Funeral Home, Queen City, Mo.

Memorials are suggested to the Queen City Cemetery or the Schuyler County Nursing Home.
