Wilma C. Decker, 87 of Kirksville, MO passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015 at her home.

The daughter of John William and Edna Garnett (Gehrke) Lay, she was born on May 23, 1928 on the farm east of Kirksville. On October 7, 1950 in Kirksville, MO she was united in marriage to Joe Ray Decker, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her parents; brothers-in-law and a nephew.

Wilma is survived by her son, Joe (Linda) Decker of Kirksville, MO; daughter, Karen Herleth of Kirksville, MO; grandchildren, Ryan (Beth) Decker of San Antonio, TX, Brett (Cara) Decker of St. Louis, MO, Lindsey (Nick) Elschlager of St. Joseph, MO, Shawna (Brian) King of Wheaton, IL; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Adyson, Alayna Decker, Elizabeth, Alexander Decker, Beau Elschlager, Zoey, David King; sisters, Neva Stamper of Kirksville, MO and Vera Semetko of Arizona; brother, William “Bill” Lay of Kirksville, MO and several nieces and nephews.

Wilma lived in Adair County until her marriage to Joe in 1950 and they moved to Moline, IL. In 1955 they moved to a farm near Sperry, MO where they lived until May of 1958 when they moved to the farm southeast of Kirksville where Wilma resided until her death. She was a housewife until Joe passed away. At that time she went to work for Hollister Inc.in Kirksville as a machine operator. She also farmed and raised cattle. After retiring from Hollister she kept busy taking care of her grandchildren.

Wilma enjoyed being outside and working on the farm. She appreciated living in a neighborhood with good friends who were always willing to lend a helping hand when she needed them. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kirksville, MO and a woman with a strong belief and faith in God. She love watching her grandkids grow up and in later years enjoyed playing with the great grandkids. Wilma was devoted to her family and friends.

Funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Kirksville with Reverend Richard Northcutt and Reverend Carrol Davenport officiating. Music will be provided by Dianthe Cable, organist.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial of her cremaine will be at a later time.

Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church or Hospice of Northeast Missouri. Memorials may be left at or sent to the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.
