Lennis Ray Lewis, 53, of Unionville, MO passed away at the Putnam County Care Center after a brief battle with cancer.

Lennis Lewis was born on October 9, 1962 in Centerville, Iowa the son of Max and Hattie (Valentine) Lewis. After graduating from Unionville High School, Lennis began a life-long career as an agricultural mechanic and driver. Lennis drove a truck for Nick and Connie Michael for 17 years and when he wasn’t on the truck, he was fixing equipment, seeding a field, wiring a barn or house, but most likely at the coffee shop. Lennis loved to work on John Deere Tractor puzzles. He was easily entertained with a simple ride in the field on a side by side. Lennis adored his nieces and nephews giving them each a special nickname. Lennis’ family could expect phone calls from him on a regular basis so his caring voice will be missed along with his presence.

Lennis Lewis is survived by a daughter, Ashley Schaper and husband Rich of Unionville, MO. Lennis’ surviving siblings are brother, Larry Lewis and wife Jana of Unionville, MO and sisters, Linda Schaper; Lisa Lunsford and husband Duane of Newton, IA; La Neta Holliday and husband Spook and Lola Lunsford and husband Mark of Unionville, MO. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, Lennis was preceded in death by grandparents, Gerald and Rosa Lewis, and Clell and Ferne Valentine along with his aunts and uncles.

Memorials for Lennis are suggested to the family to help with funeral expenses and may be entrusted to the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
