Donald William Miller
1937 - 2015
Donald W. Miller, 78 of Kirksville passed away Thursday (October 22, 2015) at his home.
He was born May 23, 1937 in Putnam County, MO, to Harry and Frances (May) Miller, both deceased.
Donald grew up with four brothers, Marvin, Charles, Dean (deceased) and Dale, and two sisters, Mary Ellen Followwill and Marty Yadon.
He was very proud to have served in the United States Army from Sept. 1960 to Sept. 1962. He was honorably discharged as a Sgt. He received many expert marksmanship awards.
He met his wife, Verneta Greenstreet of the home, and they were married in 1964. To this marriage three daughters were born; Ladonna Zimmerman and husband David (deceased), Lisa Tsujii and husband Ira Tsujii, and Brenda Brown and husband Michael.
Donald had a strong work ethic. He worked hard all his life and enjoyed the outdoors. He was an excellent and very successful farmer up until the time his health failed him with heart disease in 1995. He was forced to retire. Upon retiring, he enjoyed growing a large garden and enjoyed being outdoors with any kind of work or relaxing on his porch swing (even in hot weather).
His grandchildren were a great source of joy; Jordan Seegmiller, Gage and Kennedy Brown.
There will be a graveside service for family and friends at 1:30 P.M. Monday (October 26, 2015) at Pleasant Home Cemetery west of Worthington, MO. At which time everyone will begin greatly missing his presence and cherishing memories.
